In 1998 she received a Fine Art degree in painting from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. Kristen favors figurative and natural forms in her art. Her art thesis was based on our kinship with our wildlife neighbors and Mother Earth, a philosophy she still holds dear.
Many outdoor activities influenced her imagery. As a Maine river guide, Kristen fell in love with the amazing beauty and energy of water. She became the art director of No Umbrella in it’s depute year, 2002. That’s where she really cut her teeth in the graphic design world and publications. In the fine art and illustrative realm, Kristen’s work is representational. She paints rich buttery applications of color, draws a meandering pen and ink, and scratches out rich pastels, all while pulling her energy from the natural world. While wearing the graphic designer hat, the art is tamed and focused making her a versatile artist.
A native New Englander, she teamed up with the sidekick Dalvay dog, and moved to Idaho in search of bigger wilds and love. Kristen found both. And he got her horses! She’s a sucker for Kraft Mac, enjoys Salada Tea, can hold her own at rock climbing and is exceptionally delighted for a double yolked egg. She lives in Bellevue, Idaho, with her love, David.
Kristen is available for commission art work, animal portraiture, graphic layout and illustrative design.
